GreenYellow celebrates launch of rooftop solar project with TAL Apparel
GreenYellow Vietnam announced the launch of its latest rooftop solar project on April 2 in partnership with TAL Apparel Limited, a global garment manufacturer, for its subsidiaries TAV Limited and VNG at Vietnam Garments Manufacturing Limited.
This initiative underscores the power of collaboration and GreenYellow Vietnam's shared commitment to driving sustainability and innovation in the manufacturing sector.

TAL Apparel Limited, established in 1947 in Hong Kong, is one of the largest garment operations in the world, renowned for its superior quality, functionality, and sustainability. TAL has consistently demonstrated its dedication to embedding sustainability across its operations, supply chain, and product offerings.
This rooftop solar project is a testament to TAL’s unwavering commitment to a greener future and its leadership in sustainable manufacturing. It also marks a key milestone in the company’s efforts to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and achieve its science-based target.
In partnership with GreenYellow Vietnam, an expert in decentralised photovoltaic production, TAL Apparel is making significant strides towards sustainability by installing 4.39 MW of rooftop solar power across its two factories in Vietnam – TAV Apparel Limited and Vietnam Garments.

The 1.89 MW rooftop solar system at TAV Limited is already operational, generating an estimated 2,016 MWh annually and helping to avoid approximately 1,621 tCO₂ per year - equivalent to planting over 26,000 trees annually. This installation alone contributes to a 14 per cent reduction in the factory’s GHG emissions.
Meanwhile, Vietnam Garments has recently broken ground on a 2.5 MW rooftop solar system, which is expected to cut GHG emissions by 11 per cent. Collectively, these initiatives will contribute to an 8 per cent reduction in TAL Apparel’s total GHG emissions, reinforcing the company’s commitment to a more sustainable and responsible future for the fashion industry.
Nguyen Xuan Thang, general director of GreenYellow Vietnam, expressed his enthusiasm for the project, saying, “We are proud to partner with TAL Apparel, a company that shares our vision for a sustainable future. Beyond rooftop solar projects like this one, we also offer comprehensive solutions in energy efficiency improvement and energy storage, helping our clients to accelerate their transition to cleaner energy.”
“By harnessing renewable energy, we are reducing our carbon footprint and paving the way for a sustainable future for generations to come,” Vu Kim Thanh, head of the Regional Chinese Desk at GreenYellow Asia, noted.

Delman Lee, vice chair of TAL Apparel Limited, added, “At TAL, sustainability is a core value driver. Installing rooftop solar in partnership with GreenYellow Vietnam is a significant step on our journey towards achieving our science-based target and fulfilling our commitment to the Fashion Industry Charter for Climate Action. This investment ensures TAL Apparel is doing its part to reduce emissions and support the fashion industry’s net-zero future.”
The rooftop solar project is a shining example of how businesses can integrate sustainability into their operations while maintaining efficiency and innovation. GreenYellow Vietnam remains committed to supporting its partners in achieving their sustainability goals through cutting-edge renewable energy solutions.
