The consortium of Hanoi Housing Development and Investment Corporation and Viglacera Corporation on Monday held the groundbreaking ceremony for the Thang Long Green City social housing project, located in Kim Chung Urban Area in Dong Anh District.
According to the investor, the project will offer 1,104 units to accommodate over 3,900 people, with the handover of homes scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2026.
The social housing project spans nearly 3.7 hectares of land and will consist of four 12-story buildings.
A 49.8-square-meter apartment at the project is estimated to cost around VND916.3 million ($35,820), while the largest units, measuring 64 square meters, will be priced at VND1.2 billion ($46,890) each.
Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony, Deputy Minister of Construction Nguyen Van Sinh revealed that the prime minister had set a target for the completion of social housing projects in 2025, with continued development through to 2030.
Hanoi was assigned to complete 4,670 social housing units in 2025 and 44,866 units from 2025 to 2030.
The Thang Long Green City social housing project will contribute to suiting the growing housing demands of workers in the capital city.
In 2021, the developer completed a social housing building with 484 units, providing accommodation for more than 1,500 people.
Regarding the supply of social houses in the capital, since the end of 2024, several new projects have got off the ground.
In December 2024, Urban Infrastructure Investment Corporation started work on the N01 Ha Dinh social housing project in Thanh Tri District.
It features 255 units for sale and 110 rental units, with an estimated price of VND25 million ($976) per square meter.
Additionally, Hanoi is implementing three social housing projects in Dong Anh District, covering nearly 200 hectares of land.
