Saigon Co.op’s distribution system including Co.opmart, Co.opXtra, Co.op Food, Co.op Smile, Cheers, Finelife, Sense City, and SenseMarket served over 100 million customers during the eight weeks of Tết (Lunar New Year) business, generating nearly VNĐ7 trillion (US$227.4 million) in revenues.

Lê Trường Sơn, permanent deputy general director of Saigon Co.op, said this at a meeting with a delegation comprising Nguyễn Nguyên Phương, deputy director of the HCM City Department of Industry and Trade, and leaders of other agencies, who visited and extended Tết greetings to Saigon Co.op’s officials and employees on February 3.

He also told them that the Co.op Online shopping channel had recorded robust growth and beat its revenue target by 20 per cent.

Sales of Tết gift hampers at its 800 stores and online shopping platform were also 120 per cent of the target, he said.

Saigon Co.op also organised nearly 200 mobile sales trips to take price-stabilised goods to industrial parks, export processing zones and remote areas.

Besides, it partnered with various organisations to spread the holiday cheer to soldiers of Naval Region 4 based in Cam Ranh through its “Bringing Love to the Islands” programme.

In collaboration with the Việt Nam Red Cross Society’s Central Committee, it hosted the “Zero-đồng Tết Market” and provided over 8,000 Tết gifts worth VNĐ2.8 billion ($110,941) to policy-beneficiary families.

The “Happiness Bus” programme, in its third year, transported 900 workers from HCM City and Hà Nội to their hometowns in 30 provinces for Tết.

Saigon Co.op also actively engaged in social responsibility efforts, including visiting and giving gifts to Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, supporting government and community-led Tết initiatives and contributing to various charity organisations.

Nguyễn Nguyên Phương, deputy director of the Department of Industry and Trade, commended Saigon Co.op’s business performance despite the ongoing economic challenges, pointing out that these achievements provide a strong foundation for future growth.

According to the department, total retail sales of goods in the city in January 2025 exceeded VNĐ53.7 trillion ($2.12 billion), an 11.4 per cent increase year-on-year.

Sales through modern distribution channels during Tết increased by 15-20 per cent.

E-commerce sustained its growth momentum, expanding at an annual rate of 45-50 per cent.
