HCM CITY — Saigon Co.op and the HCM City Urban Railway No.1 Co Ltd, operator of the Bến Thành – Suối Tiên metro line, have entered into a partnership that targets to improve the passenger experience, enhance urban transportation and foster the retail market.

Under the agreement, they will set up Co.op branded retail stores on metro stations to meet commuters’ demand for quick and convenient shopping.

They will exploit cashless payment solutions, integrate metro cards into the Saigon Co.op payment system, utilising the retailer’s customer information database, and offer exclusive promotions and discount programmes for metro passengers shopping at Saigon Co.op's 800 retail locations.

Vũ Anh Khoa, chairman of Saigon Co.op, said this collaboration serves as a model for integrating modern transportation infrastructure with the development of modern retail.

“I believe that the development of the metro system, combined with Saigon Co.op’s 35 years of expertise and strength in modern retail, will contribute to creating a modern symbol that offers numerous conveniences and added value for the city’s residents.”

It is also a strategic move that enables Saigon Co.op to further expand and diversify its distribution network, advance digital transformation and optimise multi-channel shopping experience, he said.

Lê Minh Triết, director of the HCM City Urban Railway No.1 Co Ltd, hoped that this partnership would help promote the spirit of “Vietnamese people prioritise using Vietnamese products”.

Metro users would have the opportunity to buy high-quality local products, he said.

The 19.7-kilometer Bến Thành – Suối Tiên metro began commercial operation in December 2024.
