Cambodia’s economy to grow by 6.3 pct this year: official

Cambodia’s economy is projected to grow by 6.3 percent in 2025, which will raise the country’s gross domestic product (GDP) to $51.39 billion, a senior official stated on Monday.

The Southeast Asian nation’s economy is primarily driven by exports of garments, footwear, and travel goods, along with tourism, construction and real estate, and agriculture.

Ung Luyna, director general of the General Department of Policy at the Ministry of Economy and Finance, indicated that the industrial sector, particularly garment production and construction, is expected to grow by 9.3 percent. The service sector, which includes tourism, transport and telecommunications, trade, and real estate, is anticipated to increase by 4.8 percent, while agriculture is projected to rise by 0.9 percent.

“The construction and real estate sector is expected to continue experiencing slow growth in 2025, with construction forecast to grow by 2.5 per cent and real estate by 2.8 percent,” he remarked at a forum on Cambodia’s Economic Outlook 2025.

According to the official, the kingdom’s economy achieved a growth rate of 6 per cent in 2024.
