The proposed development area encompasses 1,800 hectares in Gio Linh district's Gio My, Gio Hai, and Trung Giang communes.

The undertaking includes subdivisions such as a central area, mixed resort, high-end residential area, and golf course complex with a total investment of close to VND103 trillion ($4.2 billion) and is expected to create almost 45,000 new jobs.

At the meeting, the representative of SAM Holding hoped that Quang Tri People's Committee would approve the proposal and research supporting policies very soon.

In response to the investor's proposal, Vice Chairman of Quang Tri People's Committee Hoang Nam agreed in principle to allow the SAM Holdings study.

"However, to ensure the feasibility of the project for the 2025–2030 period, SAM should study the construction of an 18-hole standard golf course with an area of 90-150ha and a 100ha mixed-use urban area," Nam said.

He also suggested that investors need to carefully understand current planning to avoid mistakes and closely coordinate with localities to adjust land-use planning to ensuring that it does not negatively affect the community.

"The company should carefully research whether it is better to combine the golf course area and the urban area into one project or into two separate two schemes. SAM should choose the option that is most convenient in terms of process and procedures, following legal regulations," said Nam, also suggesting local agencies offer their support to the investor during the study and deployment process.

"The investor must complete the study and report to Quang Tri People's Committee before February 7," he added.
