The expansion of SCG Low Carbon Cement production not only supports the trend of sustainable construction but also strengthens the group’s position in the global market, according to Supakit Phucharoensilp, director of SCG Vietnam Cement Plant Division.

All for sustainability

With growing awareness of climate change, the market for green building materials is experiencing rapid growth.

Low Carbon Cement has emerged as the preferred choice for international standard projects, offering a reduction in CO2 emissions by up to 20 percent compared to conventional cement.

It also boasts superior durability, excellent bearing capacity, and a smooth, esthetically pleasing surface.

Commenting on the new product line, Phucharoensilp emphasized that the group is continually investing in advanced technology and product innovation to meet evolving market demands.

The expansion of Low Carbon Cement production underscores SCG’s commitment to building a sustainable future.

The group aims to drive the green construction trend in Vietnam while reinforcing its position in international markets.

As part of its growth in the southern Vietnamese market, SCG has scaled up its production of SCG Low Carbon Cement, with an export capacity of 6,000-8,000 metric tons per day.

In addition to meeting domestic TCVN standards, SCG Low Carbon Cement complies with the stringent requirements of the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) and British and European Standard Specifications (BS EN), opening doors to major international markets such as the U.S., Canada, and Australia.

To support its sustainability goals, the group employs advanced green production processes, including the use of alternative fuels, an increased proportion of renewable energy, and a Waste Heat Recovery system.

These innovations not only minimize environmental impacts but also pave the way for new opportunities in the green construction materials industry, shaping a more sustainable future.

SCG’s commitment

Cao Thi Nham, a representative of Pham Duy Anh Trading and Service Co., Ltd., a partner of SCG Group, highlighted the strong growth of the green building materials market in Vietnam.

She stated that products like Low Carbon Cement are not only environmentally friendly but also contribute to energy savings, aligning with the growing trend of sustainable construction.

Reflecting on her experience with SCG’s green cement, Nham shared at SCG’s recent event, ‘Green Construction for a Sustainable Future,’ that she had the opportunity to inspect SCG’s production process first-hand.

“I was impressed by the high quality of the product, which strictly adheres to international standards and export requirements,” Nham stated.

“Moreover, the emphasis on environmental protection further reinforced my confidence in distributing these products to customers.”

According to SCG’s representative, the group’s new product development strategy is a key part of the ESG 4 Plus sustainable development framework, which has been actively implemented across various areas over the past few years.

The group continues to prioritize research and development to provide innovative solutions, strengthening its position in the Vietnamese and ASEAN cement markets while becoming a trusted partner in global green construction projects.

This ensures that products consistently reach customers in optimal condition, maintaining a reliable supply chain from production to delivery.

In addition, SCG’s nationwide distribution network makes it easier for customers to access its products, reinforcing the group’s strong presence in Vietnam and boosting its competitiveness in international markets.

During the event, SCG also unveiled a new brand identity for STARMAX cement, underscoring the brand’s commitment to quality, strictly controlled by Thailand’s leading construction materials group.

This innovation not only strengthens customer confidence but also affirms SCG’s ongoing commitment to providing high-quality products and supporting the growth of the Vietnamese construction industry.
