15 major Irish firms desire to step up investment in Vietnam
Leaders of Ireland's 15 largest corporations on Thursday expressed interest in investing in Vietnam, focusing on four key sectors, namely high technology, agriculture, industry and energy, and healthcare, during a meeting with Vietnamese General Secretary and State President To Lam in Dublin.

Lam arrived in Dublin on Wednesday morning to pay a two-day state visit to the European country.
At the meeting, leaders of the 15 Irish enterprises reviewed their business and investment projects that have been implemented in Vietnam.
They also presented their ideas and plans to expand their reach to the four said fields in the Southeast Asian nation in the coming time.

The top Vietnamese leader said that he felt the passion and desire of these Irish firms for enhancing cooperation and investment activities in Vietnam in the coming months.
With its long-term sustainable development strategy, Vietnam targets foreign investment selectively in the digital, green, circular, and intellectual economy spheres.
Vietnam will prioritize hi-tech, electronics, semiconductor, renewable-energy, hydrogen fuel, healthcare, innovation, biotechnology, and financial hub projects.
Apart from floating potential fields for investments, he stressed that Vietnam expects Irish companies to continue investing in the country.

Also at the meeting, Party chief and State President Lam witnessed the exchange of cooperation agreements between Vietnam and Ireland in such fields as higher education, artificial intelligence, and aviation.
Prof. Dr. Le Quan, director of the Vietnam National University-Hanoi, and Dolores O'Riordan, vice-president of global engagement at University College Dublin, signed a cooperation agreement to enhance collaboration in training, scientific research, and the exchange of students and teachers.
In addition, representatives of Vietnam’s FPT Corporation and Kyndryl Ireland exchanged cooperative documents to foster their partnership in digital transformation and AI application development.
Nguyen Thanh Hung, vice-chairman of Vietjet Air, and Sankalp Garg, head of APAC Aviation Commercial at Castlelake, signed a cooperative document on aircraft hiring and purchase at the meeting.
