Việt Nam-Korea expo opens in HCM City

More than 600 products and services are on show at the Mega Us Expo that opened in HCM City on Thursday.

The annual event has brought together more than 200 companies from Việt Nam and the Republic of Korea.

The products on display include consumer and household goods, furniture, home appliances, cosmetics, nail, hair and scalp products, fintech, medical devices, high-tech agriculture, processed foods, sauces, health and baby foods, and software.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Trần Thị Diệu Thúy, deputy chairwoman of the city People’s Committee, said HCM City has the most dynamic startup ecosystem in Việt Nam, accounting for 50 per cent of the total startups and 40 per cent of innovation incubators supporting start-ups in the country.

Sixty per cent of the country’s venture capital funds are based in the city, which accounts for 44 per cent of venture capital investment, she said.

International cooperation is a key factor in developing an innovative startup ecosystem, and would helps Vietnamese startups increase their competitiveness and reach out to international markets by connecting with global and partners, she said.

Mega Us Expo 2024 is aimed at connecting the city’s innovation startup ecosystem with innovative products, technologies and services from Korean startups and small and medium-sized enterprises.

The three-day event at the White Palace Convention Centre is organised by the city Department of Science and Technology, Saigon Innovation Hub, Koretoviet Trade Promotion Centre, Jeonbuk Centre for Creative Economy & Innovation, and JYGLOBAL.
