Nguyễn Thị Kim Ngọc, deputy director of the city Department of Industry and Trade, said the fair, with the theme “The Readiness of the Supporting Industry in the Supply Chain of Emerging Technologies”, has attracted 22 foreign companies and major industrial end-product manufacturers in sectors such as electronics, appliances, auto, mechanical engineering, aerospace, and medicine in Việt Nam.

They would have over 300 pre-arranged meetings with 130 Vietnamese supporting industry manufacturing firms, she said.

There will be a workshop on market trends in emerging technology sectors such as semiconductors and high-value industries such as aerospace and medical sectors.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Võ Văn Hoan, deputy chairman of the city People’s Committee, said in recent years the city has helped local manufacturing enterprises connect with multinational corporations, enabling them to acquire technology and management experience, and gradually modernise their production to join global supply chains.

The city has also supported businesses’ efforts to innovate technology and expand production, he said.

He said the last six editions of the event attracted 116 foreign-owned business, industrial end-product manufacturers and 370 small- and medium-sized supporting industrial enterprises.

Supporting industry enterprises participating in previous editions have become more confident in showcasing their capabilities and joining supply chains, with companies like Nhật Minh Echigo, Tiến Thịnh, Vĩ Nam Việt, CNS Amura, Lidovit, Duy Khanh, and Việt Nhật Mechanical successfully integrating into the supply chains of global corporations, he said.

Organised by the city Department of Industry and Trade, the Saigon Hi-Tech Park Management Board and the HCM City Export Processing and Industrial Zones Authority, the SFS 2024, being held at Convention Centre 272, will go on until August 29.
