Up to over 1.5 million products were sold through the five largest e-commerce platforms in Vietnam, including Shopee, Lazada, Tiki, Sendo, and TikTok Shop, a surge of 65.55 percent over the year-ago period.

The growth reflects the sustainable development of the local e-commerce market and enterprises’ ability to grasp opportunities amid the ongoing shift to online shopping from offline channels.

The period saw an increase of 12.29 percent in the number of malls on e-commerce platforms, proving that consumers in Vietnam increasingly prefer authentic and branded products from prestigious traders.

According to Metric, traders with high sales on Shopee typically have warehouses in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.

The Red River Delta is also a promising market thanks to its high population density and strong consumption demand.

The top-selling categories on the five e-commerce platforms were beauty care products, household appliances, and women's fashion, which generated the highest revenue and had the largest number of sold items.

Dairy firm Vinamilk was the only Vietnamese brand among the 10 brands recording the highest turnover from the e-commerce platforms.

The first half of this year witnessed the domination of large mobile phone and tablet brands as Apple, Samsung, Xiaomi, and Oppo were among the 10 brands with the most handsome sales.

Automaker Honda also landed on the list, proving that consumers in Vietnam are now willing to buy high-value products online.

Over the past two months, sales of office supplies have surged as clients have rushed to prepare for their children’s new academic year, set to formally begin in September.
