Vietnam aims to boast at least 10 US dollar billionaires by 2030

By 2030, at least 10 Vietnamese entrepreneurs will make it onto the global list of U.S. dollar billionaires, with five of them being recognized as the most influential in Asia by reputable international organizations, according to a government resolution issued on Thursday.

Vietnam aims to boast at least 10 US dollar billionaires by 2030

Vietnam has six U.S. dollar billionaires as revealed in the 2024 Forbes list of the world's richest people released in April.

Vietnam was represented by six billionaires among the 2,781 wealthiest individuals worldwide, as revealed in the 2024 Forbes list of the world's richest people released last month.

Leading these Vietnamese billionaires is Pham Nhat Vuong, chairman of Vingroup, a multifaceted conglomerate, with a net worth of US$4.4 billion.

Vuong is followed by VietJet Air CEO and HDBank vice-chairwoman Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao, chairman of steelmaker Hoa Phat Tran Dinh Long, Techcombank chairman Ho Hung Anh, chairman of automaker Thaco Tran Ba Duong & family, and chairman of retailer Masan Nguyen Dang Quang.

Vietnam also hopes to have a minimum of two million enterprises by 2030, including economic groups with a high financial capacity and strong competitiveness in the domestic and international markets to lead important sectors of the national economy.

These enterprises are expected to contribute 65-70 percent of the country’s gross domestic product, 32-38 percent of the total number of jobs, and 98-99 percent of the total import-export turnover.

Vietnam aims for approximately 20-25 percent of businesses to be owned by women, with 30-35 percent having female directors or leaders.

The resolution stated that the number of firms listed among those with the highest brand values by prestigious ranking organizations in the world would increase 10 percent annually.

By 2045, Vietnam aims to have groups which are capable of leading value chains, then forming Vietnamese value chains in sectors in which the country has strengths.

The Southeast Asian country hopes to develop a contingent of Vietnamese entrepreneurs with capacity and qualifications that meet national development goals.

To achieve these targets, the government required ministries, agencies, localities, the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Vietnam Association of Small and Medium Enterprises, and business associations to focus on raising awareness of the position and role of businessmen in obtaining the country's development goals and improving policies and laws to create a favorable and equal investment and business environment for entrepreneurs and enterprises.
