PM gives Qatari investors green light for investment
Prime Minister Hun Manet on Tuesday okayed Qatar investors to explore investment opportunities and seek business partners in several sectors including trade, investment and vocational training.
This was revealed by Khalid Ali Abdullah Abel, Ambassador of Qatar to Cambodia during a courtesy call to Prime Minister Hun Manet held at the Peace Palace, Phnom Penh on Tuesday.
Abel told the Premier about Qatar’s commitment to promote cooperation and enhance relations between the two countries to the next level by encouraging and facilitating businessmen and investors to seek investment opportunities and trade partners in the Kingdom.
Mr Hun Manet also appreciated the ambassador’s commitment to enhance cooperation hence he underlined that the Royal Government of Cambodia (RGC) has always been open and strongly supports the intention to expand diplomatic relations for common interests.
The Premier and the Qatar envoy agreed to strengthen collaboration in potential sectors such as trade, investment, education and vocational training.
Further, the Premier asked Abel to act as a facilitator in organising the business forums for gathering Qatar companies to meet and discuss with relevant ministries and institutions in Cambodia.
On February 17, Othsman Hassen, a Senior Minister in charge of Special Missions met with Mohamed bin Ahmed bin Twar Al Kuwari, First Vice-Chairman of the Qatar Chamber to enhance economic and commercial cooperation as well as review investment opportunities in the Kingdom’s priority sectors held in Doha capital.
According to Qatar News Agency (QNA), Kuwari said that both nations are bound by good relations, stressing the significance of enhancing Qatari investment in promising sectors that attract Qatari investors.
The Qatari market welcomes Khmer products of high quality and appropriate prices, indicating that the Qatar Chamber would promote opportunities available in the Kingdom among the Qatari business community to stimulate investment flow, he added.
Hassan responded that the visit would promote Cambodia’s economy and investment opportunities to Qatari investors, emphasising significant interest in fostering cooperative relations with Qatar.
He reviewed the Kingdom’s rice production, which exceeds 7 million tons yearly while the cashew production exceeds 1 million tons, noting significant developments in the halal industry.
