Besides assisting businesses improve market share and promote their brands, Sài Gòn Giải Phóng newspaper will also start an information and communication column for green businesses to increase community awareness of green products and brands.
Retailers will have preferential policies and promotions to help the green businesses promote consumption of their products and offer them priority shelf space and display locations.
The deal is for until 2030, with an annual meeting held to assess the effectiveness and quality of the programme.
HUBA Chairman Nguyễn Ngọc Hòa said: "Distributors have agreed to provide maximum support for green businesses to reach consumers through their distribution channels.”
Without all-round support, the goal of going green would be difficult to achieve because a majority of Vietnamese businesses are small- or medium-sized, he said.
Last year, HUBA and the newspaper honoured 90 businesses with the appellation for their accomplishments in sustainability.
Phạm Thi Vân, deputy general director of Saigon Trading Group (Satra), said 17 out of 90 certified green businesses sell their products through the group’s retail system.
Products made by green businesses would be displayed at designated places at its supermarkets and some convenience stores, she said. Satra would also promote these businesses in the merchandise display area and on its retail websites, and introduce them to all Satra members for possible tie-ups, she said.
Another 14 green businesses would display their products for the first time at the Bình Điền Spring flower market to be held next month, she added.
Nguyễn Anh Đức, general director of Saigon Co.op, said that in addition to preferential policies like priority for renting shelf space and product display locations and promotional programmes, Saigon Co.op would also prioritise promotion of the products made by these green firms on its internal information system.
It would co-ordinate with HUBA and Sài Gòn Giải Phóng newspaper to regularly organise promotion activities and acquaint green enterprises with domestic and foreign businesses, he added.
