New agreement enhances Vietnam-Singapore tourism cooperation

Vietnam is one of the top 10 source markets for Singapore.

Vietnam and Singapore are deepening their tourism cooperation to benefit tourists from both countries, thanks to a partnership between Vietnam Airlines and Singapore's Sentosa Development Corporation (SDC).

Vietnam Airlines, the national flag carrier of Vietnam, and the Sentosa Development Corporation (SDC) under the Ministry of Trade and Industry of Singapore signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on January 16, covering the period 2024-205.

Under the agreement, Vietnam Airlines and SDC will cooperate in developing tourism products and promotional programs to showcase Sentosa as a top destination and attract Vietnam Airlines passengers to visit Sentosa Island, Singapore.

In addition, both parties will work together to promote Sentosa as a premier destination and Vietnam Airlines' products and services.

Dang Anh Tuan, Executive Vice President of Vietnam Airlines, said: "The cooperation will leverage the strengths of Vietnam Airlines and SCD. Today's signing of the Memorandum of Understanding is a solid foundation for both parties to move towards deeper cooperation in the future."

Vietnam Airlines operates nearly 100 routes to 22 domestic and 29 international destinations. Singapore is a particularly important market for the airline in the South East Asia region.

The national airline operates 28 direct flights a week from Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi to Singapore. For many years, Vietnam has been one of Singapore's top 10 key markets in terms of tourist arrivals.

Chin Sak Hin, Assistant Chief Executive and Chief Financial Officer of Sentosa Development Corporation, said that with this MoU, passengers using Vietnam Airlines tickets would enjoy various benefits, including free admission to one of Sentosa's famous attractions, such as the Wings of Time musical fountain with its captivating sound and light effects, or the Singapore Cable Car for a breathtaking panoramic view of Sentosa.

"Sentosa Sensoryscape, the latest attraction that is open day and night, is expected to soft launch in March, promising new adventures and experiences for tourists," he added.
