One more Emart hypermarket under THACO Group owned by Vietnamese billionaire Tran Ba Duong was launched in Go Vap District, Ho Chi Minh City on Thursday, making it the third of its kind in the city and Vietnam.

The supermarket spans over 10,500 square meters on the first floor of Thiso Mall Truong Chinh-Phan Huy Ich, located on Phan Huy Ich Street in Ward 14, Go Vap District.

The Emart Phan Huy Ich offers shoppers a wide selection of products ranging from consumer products, food and foodstuffs, household appliances, to fashion items and many others.

The newly-launched Emart will prioritize the sale of Vietnamese products and run a great number of promotion programs, including a series of events offering discounts of up to 100 percent from now till December 20 on the occasion of its opening, said a representative of the supermarket.

Groups of commodities such as fresh food, necessity goods, and electronics are on sale, the representative elaborated.

In late 2021, THISO, a commerce and service subsidiary of THACO, established THISO Retail, which inked a deal with South Korean Emart Inc. to acquire a 100-percent stake in Emart Vietnam Co. Ltd. and the exclusive franchise license for its branded products at Emart Vietnam supermarkets.

Under the deal, THISO Retail is responsible for operating, managing, and expanding the Emart supermarket system in Vietnam.

Late last year, THISO launched Emart Sala, the second Emart hypermarket in Ho Chi Minh City.

The first Emart hypermarket in Vietnam was launched in late 2015 in Ho Chi Minh City's Go Vap District, covering an area of over three hectares and carrying a price tag of US$60 million.

THACO board chairman Duong put forward a plan of building 11 Emart hypermarkets nationwide by 2025 while addressing a general shareholder meeting of THACO Group in 2021.

THACO AUTO, specializing in the manufacturing and sale of automobiles, THACO AGRI, focusing on agricultural production, THACO INDUSTRIES, engaging in mechanics and supporting industries, THADICO, involved in investment and construction, THILOGI, dedicated to logistics services, and THISO, centering on commerce and service.
