Vietnam-Korea IT Cooperation Alliance promotes cooperation in digital transformation

A partnership representing information technology companies in Vietnam and South Korea has been formed to help companies access and penetrate each other's markets.

The Vietnam-Korea Information Technology (IT) Cooperation Alliance is expected to facilitate cooperation and provide information on business support programs of the two governments, and promote bilateral cooperation in IT and digital transformation.

The organization was established at the Vietnam-Korea Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Cooperation Forum held in Hanoi on November 6-7.

Phan Tam, Deputy Minister of Information and Communication of Vietnam, said that South Korea is a leading country in digital technology and Vietnam attaches great importance to developing relations with South Korea in this crucial field.

He mentioned that the two sides share many common interests and opportunities for development, especially in digital government and data. The two countries have engaged in various concrete and practical cooperation activities, such as training and capacity building for Vietnamese agencies and assistance in drafting laws on electronic transactions.

"I hope that through this forum, we can share experiences, strengthen cooperation between the two countries, and discover new opportunities for cooperation," said Tam.

He hailed the forum as a promising avenue to promote ICT cooperation between the two countries, which has a significant impact on all aspects of life and socio-economic activities.

Park Yun Kyu, Vice Minister of Science, Technology and Communications of South Korea, said that the Korean government is also enhancing its digital capabilities and promoting digital technology in all aspects of the economy and society.

This year, the governments of the Republic of Korea and Vietnam have actively engaged in diverse and positive discussions to develop digital cooperation. In June, after the visit of President of the Republic of Korea Yoon Suk Yeol to Vietnam, the two countries had fruitful exchanges and various discussions on digital cooperation, he added.

He noted that the governments of the two countries had discussed key issues such as increasing participation in major digital events and plans to enhance cooperation exchanges between enterprises. A vice-ministerial-level online meeting was held in August.

The two countries also discussed practical cooperation programs to develop strong digital capabilities in the future. Vice Minister Park Yun Kyu emphasized that this is the starting point for the two countries to achieve fruitful outcomes.

Jeong Sung, Deputy Director of the National IT Industry Promotion Agency of Korea, said, "Based on the solid trust in comprehensive strategic cooperation, we hope that Vietnam and South Korea will jointly face new challenges and continue to maintain close cooperation and exchanges in the field of digital transformation."

According to Vietnam's national digital infrastructure development orientation, the country aims to become a digital country by 2030. As part of the national digital platform development, Vietnam is prioritizing and focusing on developing digital platforms under the "Make in Vietnam" initiative.
