SABECO (SAB) honoured as an outstanding enterprise for labour

SABECO has been recognised as an outstanding enterprise for labour for the first time by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor in conjunction with the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs (MoLISA) and the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI).

At an award ceremony organised on October 29, SABECO was one of the nine businesses honoured by the MoLISA for its exceptional efforts in caring for its employees’ wellbeing and improving their capacities. The recognition aims to acknowledge businesses contributing to Vietnam's socioeconomic and human development while fostering a positive work environment for employees.

The evaluation criteria for this recognition were established by labour experts and assessed various aspects such as income, training, working conditions, social benefits, and activities that promote the physical and mental wellbeing of employees. This assessment was validated by various authorities and surveys, ensuring a comprehensive evaluation.

This year in particular, the award was honoured to the companies that were able to keep their growth momentum regardless of post-COVID economic challenges, maintaining stable production activities, and increasing revenue and profits, while taking good care of the physical and mental health of their employees.

SABECO, with nearly 13,000 direct employees, emphasised a people-centric approach in its growth strategy, aiming to maintain stable employment despite the challenges posed by the pandemic.

The company's business strategy centres on sustainable development, with a focus on its workforce as a crucial pillar for growth. People represent one of the six strategic focuses that have aided SABECO in enhancing its competitiveness while sustaining its leading position since the commencement of its transformation in 2019.

In 2022, SABECO implemented several initiatives to support its employees, including a performance-based salary structure, re-evaluation of salary ranges and benefits, and the introduction of new HR policies to ensure a safe and healthy work environment.

The company prioritised training and development programmes, surpassing legal requirements with a total of 2,957 training hours, emphasising the importance of skill development.

The corporation also promotes an active and healthy lifestyle among its workforce by organising events like the SABECO Employees’ Sport Days, encouraging physical activities and camaraderie.

Lester Tan, general director of SABECO, highlighted the importance of employees in the company's success and its journey towards sustainability. He reiterated the company's commitment to investing in its workforce to enhance internal strength and competitiveness, creating sustainable value for stakeholders, customers, and communities.

SABECO's dedication to its transformation journey led to significant financial achievements in 2022. The company reported a net revenue of almost VND35 trillion ($1.5 billion) and a profit after tax of $232 million, indicating a 32 per cent and 40 per cent increase, respectively, compared to 2021.

The brand Bia Saigon maintained its leading position in the beer market share by volume as of August 2023. Additionally, SABECO was honoured as one of the highest contributors to the state budget among beverage manufacturers during the pandemic, recognised for its significant tax contributions.

With a commitment to investing in business development along with sustainable development, SABECO always strives to create positive changes to enhance the position of the Vietnamese brand, while promoting positive development for the community.
