Prime Ministers witness signing ceremony of Signify-NIC cooperation agreement

NIC and Signify will collaborate with local authorities in Vietnam to promote innovation in agriculture and advanced technology.

A signing ceremony of the comprehensive cooperation agreement took place today [November 2] between Signify, a leading global lighting company, and the National Innovation Center (NIC) under the Ministry of Planning and Investment, in the presence of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte.

The cooperation agreement encompasses raising awareness of lighting's potential in achieving the net-zero goal, exploring participation in projects that advance digital transformation in public lighting, and supporting the introduction of innovative solutions in high-tech agriculture, smart cities, and smart factories.

These projects will enhance energy efficiency through digital lighting systems in Vietnam, with Signify expecting to aid in establishing innovative spaces, labs, demonstration areas, and technology showcases at NIC facilities.

In addition, Signify will assist in implementing scientific and technological solutions at NIC and introduce them to partners and relevant programs. This includes researching data collection and security features of the Interact cloud platform to promote innovation through digital lighting systems.

The research conducted on Signify's Interact platform will enable cities to deploy large-scale digital lighting systems, significantly contributing to the sustainable and intelligent development of urban areas in Vietnam.

During the signing ceremony, Vu Quoc Huy, Director of NIC, emphasized that smart cities and smart factories are key focus areas for NIC. Leveraging technology and innovative solutions to enhance the quality of life, operational efficiency, competitiveness, and environmental sustainability is gaining popularity.

"The cooperation will accelerate the process of building smart cities and smart factories, providing new directions for Vietnam's provinces and cities to address the challenges of urbanization and industrialization while promoting green and inclusive economic growth," he said.

This cooperation agreement also signifies Signify's commitment to connecting NIC with governments, organizations, businesses, and technology corporations in the Netherlands and worldwide. The goal is to support NIC in developing an innovative ecosystem in Vietnam and assisting innovative businesses in participating in the global supply chain.

"The cooperation with NIC will enable businesses, urban areas, residents, and local authorities to access the privileges and innovations offered by Signify's lighting technology across industries, agriculture, and daily life. This partnership will fully unlock the vast potential of new lighting," said Phung Hoai Duong, General Director of Signify Vietnam.

Duong further added that NIC and Signify will collaborate with local authorities in Vietnam to promote innovation in agriculture and the use of advanced technology.
