Nghi Son Refinery back online

Nghi Son Refinery and Petrochemical LLC today announced that the refinery is resuming its normal operations and will deliver petroleum products to the market from October 12, seven days ahead of schedule.

The swift turnaround is thanks to the support of the local authorities and the community, and the remarkable efforts of the employees of Nghi Son Refinery and Petrochemical LLC (NSRP), along with its contractors and international and Vietnamese partners.

Vietnam's energy demand is expected to continue to increase in the coming years and NSRP's return to operation will go some way to alleviate that demand. The refinery produces various petroleum products, including petroleum, diesel, and jet fuel, all essential for the economy.

NSRP is a joint venture between Vietnam's state-owned oil and gas group PetroVietnam, and a consortium of international companies, including Kuwait Petroleum Europe B.V., Idemitsu Kosan, and Mitsui Chemicals.

Amidst a global crude oil scarcity, NSRP is working with Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (KPC) to secure additional supply to support the operation resumption.

"This refinery represents a significant investment in Vietnam's energy future, and we are pleased to announce that we are now ready to provide the domestic market with petroleum products," said So Hasegawa, NSRP’s general director.

“Working in partnership with PetroVietnam, NSRP envisions a pathway to a sustainable and prosperous commercial future and our core mission is to play a leading role in the long-term supply of energy for Vietnam’s continued growth. We are grateful for all partners' efforts in making this future attainable,” Hasegawa added.
