Quang Binh conference puts on show for investors

The conference on Quang Binh province's master plan for investment promotion took place in Hanoi on June 25.

The conference welcomed about 500 guests, including leaders from a range of government agencies, representatives of international organisations and foreign diplomatic agencies, associations, businesses, and investors with the chairing of the Deputy Prime Minister Le Minh Khai, leaders of the Ministry of Planning and Investment, and Quang Binh province.

Speaking at the conference, Tran Thang, Chairman of Quang Binh People's Committee, said the province is an attractive destination for domestic and foreign investors, with an important strategic position on the economic development corridors and converging its strengths to develop an integrated and diversified economy, especially in tourism development.

Quang Binh has a synchronous traffic system including the National Highway No.1A and the North-South Expressway which is urgently under construction; Ho Chi Minh Road with two branches and other national highways; and the Dong Hoi railway station, Dong Hoi Airport, and Hon La Seaport.

Two economic zones and 10 industrial zones in the province have favourable geographical positions, meeting the development needs of industrial, logistics, renewable energy, business, trade, and services.

Quang Binh has a coastline of over 115km with many beautiful beaches; a forest coverage rate of over 68 per cent, ranking second in the country with many historical relics, and many renowned cultural and spiritual heritages.

In addition, Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park has twice been recognised by UNESCO as a world natural heritage site. The locality attracts tourists via a series of unique and attractive sports and resort activities in the coastal area with world-class golf courses, diverse culinary culture, and hot springs.

The planning sets targets of ensuring rapid and sustainable economic growth, utilising all advantages with the application of science and technology as well as innovation.

"By 2030, Quang Binh will become a dynamic economy with the focusing on such industries as tourism and services, green industry, renewable energy, processing and manufacturing, and high-tech agriculture. We will invest and develop a synchronous and modern infrastructure," Thang said.

Specifically, Quang Binh aims to reach 8.4-8.8 per cent of the annual regional GDP by 2030. Of this, 38 per cent is contributed by industry and construction, 45 per cent by services, and 13 per cent by forestry and fisheries. The two driving force centres of the province are Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park and Hon La Economic Zone.

The master plan points out three urban centres, including Dong Hoi city and its surrounding areas, the northern urban area (Ba Don town), and southern urban area (Kien Giang town).

Quang Binh’s master plan for the 2021-2030 period, with a vision to 2050, was approved in April.

At the conference on June 25, Quang Binh also arranged booths to highlight the potential of tourism and local One Commune, One Product offerings. The conference is a forum to exchange and spread information about the potential strengths and investment opportunities in Quang Binh province among the wider community of organisations and business associations, as well as domestic and foreign investors.

Quang Binh People's Committee expects the event to provide multiple opportunities for investment and business cooperation in the province, effectively availing of the local potential to promote socioeconomic development and improve people's quality of life.
