Ambassador promotes Japanese investment in Kingdom
The Japanese ambassador is committed to cooperate with the Cambodian government to promote Cambodia to potential investors in Japan, noting that Cambodia has many favourable factors, especially geographical factors and its labour force.
The commitment came as Preap Kol, Minister attached to the Prime Minister in charge of foreign investment, international relations and governance reform, met with Japanese ambassador Atsushi Ueno on June 22, according to a ministerial press release.
Preap Kol reiterated the government’s stance on the issues surrounding conflicts in several countries where Cambodia has diplomatic relations, trade policy and the Kingdom’s role in the region, as well as Cambodia's support for Japan's position regarding regional conflicts, including Myanmar.
During the meeting, Atsushi thanked Prime Minister Hun Sen for supporting Japan's foreign policy and maintaining good relations.
“During their close conversation, Atsushi was pleased to share information with Kol on Japan's international trade policy and information on relevant institutions that may unlock Japanese investment plans and potential Japanese investors seeking opportunities in Cambodia,” added the release.
He also admired Cambodia's willingness to implement policy reforms that will increase the Kingdom’s attractiveness to foreign investors, including those from Japan.
