Ho Chi Minh City to host large-scale export fair in late May

The Ho Chi Minh City export forum and trade fair 2023 will take place at the Saigon Exhibition and Convention Center in District 7 from May 25 to 28, featuring 250 booths.

On May 27 and 28 specifically, visitors will be able to buy a variety of Vietnamese goods at discounted prices, heard a press conference for the event on Wednesday.

The event will be organized as part of a series of trade activities in the city to boost the consumption of local commodities and widen the domestic market, Bui Ta Hoang Vu, director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Industry and Trade, said at the press briefing.

He also noted that the export forum and trade fair will act as a convergent venue to help local exporters connect with foreign partners.

The event is expected to serve some 3,000 foreign guests.

Until now, more than 1,000 visitors from key export markets, such as the United States, South Korea, Japan, India, Thailand, and Cambodia have registered to join the expo.

Some 170 exhibitors will showcase their goods – mainly woodwork, food, rubber, plastics, electronic items, apparel, and footwear – at 250 booths.

These groups of commodities are among the big earners in the Vietnamese economy.

The event will also feature the participation of supermarket chains, distributors, and e-commerce platforms to advance trade connectivity.
