Work starts on Thanh Da Industrial Cluster in Hanoi outskirts

Building the Thanh Da Industrial Cluster will help solve the demand for manufacturing space in the area.

Work on the Thanh Da Industrial Cluster project, worth about VND250 billion (US$10.7 million), began on April 11 in Thanh Da Commune, Phuc Tho District, on the outskirts of Hanoi.

The cluster covers more than 8.1 hectares and is invested by Long Bien Group Joint Stock Company.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Doan Trung Tuan, Chairman of Phuc Tho District People's Committee, said that the locality has seven handicraft villages, of which thousands of production and business units are engaged in industrial and handicraft activities. The demand for production space for craft village enterprises is still very high, while only two industrial clusters with a total area of 28.7 hectares are in operation.

Tuan said the development of the Thanh Da Industrial Cluster would help meet the local community's need for space for production facilities. "It will also consolidate production facilities into concentrated production areas, which will help reduce environmental pollution in residential areas."

At the groundbreaking ceremony, Deputy Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Nguyen Manh Quyen called on the city's departments, agencies, Phuc Tho District, and Thanh Da Commune to create conditions for the investor to implement the project, remove difficulties and shorten the time to complete administrative procedures.

The deputy chairman requested the municipal Department of Industry and Trade to solve difficulties and give solutions to speed up progress and ensure that the project is implemented according to regulations.

Quyen also urged Long Bien Group Joint Stock Company to quickly complete the investment in building the technical infrastructure of the industrial cluster and attract secondary investors to maximize the project's efficiency.

Hanoi has ten industrial zones with a total area of 1,300 hectares. Nine of them are active and almost full, while the Hanoi South Ancillary Industry Park is under construction. In 2022, these parks generated $8.1 billion in revenue, up 4.1% year-on-year, with combined exports estimated at $5.1 billion and imports at $4.3 billion.
