Hanoi company spends $42.6 million to build 5-hectare wholesale market
An investor started the construction of a wholesale market worth nearly VND1 trillion (US$42.6 million) in Hanoi on Thursday with a view to make the project the largest of its kind in the northern region upon completion.
Southern Hanoi Wholesale Market Joint Stock Company is building the Bich Hoa Wholesale Market on an area of five hectares in Thanh Oai District, south of the capital city, with the grant of a 50-year land use right.
The project is situated along National Highway 21B and Ring Road 4, making it very convenient for traders to reach both urban and suburban districts and southern provinces through National Highway 1A, as well as northern localities via National Highway 6.
The new market, whose investment tops VND1 trillion, will include 509 kiosks, 342 stalls, and a parking lot capable of handling trucks from 0.5 tons and 40-foot container trucks, Nguyen Hong Son, chairman of the Southern Hanoi Wholesale Market JSC, said at Thursday's ground-breaking ceremony.
The project is expected to be officially put into commercial operation in the second quarter of 2024 as the largest wholesale market in the northern region.
