Hanoi, Chinese localities boost cooperation in potential fields

Beijing and Hanoi are expected to take the initiative in their ties and serve as positive role models in the relationship between Vietnam and China.

Hanoi has called on Chinese localities to work more closely with the capital to advance the implementation of programs for planning officials in a variety of fields, such as smart city management, cybersecurity, and high-tech crime prevention.

The request was made by Dinh Tien Dung, Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee, to the Chinese ambassador to Vietnam, Xiong Bo, on April 11.

Party Secretary Dinh Tien Dung stated during the meeting that Hanoi would be interested in learning from Chinese specialists in the preservation of cultural and historical artifacts, particularly the restoration of unique national monuments that need protection.

He expressed his gratitude to the Chinese Embassy in Vietnam for its keen attention, active support, and crucial role in promoting the friendly relationship and cooperation between Hanoi and Chinese localities, especially with the capital city of Beijing. On the occasion of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong's visit to China from October 30 to November 1 last year, the two cities signed a Memorandum of Understanding on taking bilateral cooperation to a new level.

Dung also hoped that Xiong Bo would serve as a link and continue to develop cooperation between Hanoi and other Chinese cities such as Beijing and Guangzhou (Guangdong Province).

For his part, Ambassador Xiong Bo assured that the Chinese Embassy in Vietnam would convey Hanoi's proposals to the leaders in Beijing and relevant Chinese agencies.

Stressing that China always attaches importance to cooperation and is willing to share experiences with Vietnam and Hanoi, the Ambassador expressed his expectation that Hanoi and Beijing will always take the lead in relations and become a good model for the two countries' ties.

He emphasized that the aforementioned recommendations for cooperation between the two cities of the two nations would significantly advance the effective implementation and the development of shared perceptions among the top leaders of both parties.
