Ba Vi, the place to buy Hanoi specialties

Nguyen The Hiep, Deputy Director of the Hanoi Department of Industry and Trade said the capital’s suburban district of Ba Vi has formed organic and safe agricultural production areas, and registered brands for its products. These include Ba Vi milk and tea, Minh Hong vermicelli, Dong Thai sweet potato, and Ba Vi hill chicken, among others. The district has developed 138 OCOP (one commune one product) products.

One Commune One Product (OCOP) is a national program designed to facilitate the development of regional agricultural specialties and rural tourism. However, like many other localities, Ba Vi is facing difficulties in sales of OCOP products.

With support of the Hanoi Department of Industry and Trade, the Ba Vi District People's Committee has opened a point of sales for OCOP products in Viet Long Village in Tan Linh Commune, introducing and selling honey, herbal pharmaceuticals, hill chicken, milk and other products.

Points of sales have helped increase sales of OCOP products

Nguyen Thi Thiet from the Yen Bai agricultural cooperative said her cooperative displays and sells safe tea and pomelo at the point of sale. Although these OCOP products are certified by the provincial People's Committee, they need promotion activities to attract consumers.

A representative of the Khanh Phuong agricultural, livestock and commercial cooperative, which manages and operates the OCOP products’ point of sale, said the cooperative seeks support from the Hanoi Department of Industry and Trade and the Ba Vi District People's Committee to bring district OCOP products to supermarkets throughout the city.

Ba Vi District will open more points of sales for OCOP products, further promote these products and create conditions for traders and producers to learn about efficient and high technology economic models.
