Up to 800K tourists travelling the Kingdom, say ministry

The Ministry of Tourism said that the number of domestic tourists in the seven days from October 31 to November 6 reached more than 800,000. It said 770,000 are Cambodians while the other 30,000 are foreign residents of the Kingdom.

The ministry said in a November 8 social media post that Kampot, Preah Sihanouk, Banteay Meanchey, Kampong Thom, Siem Reap, Takeo provinces, and Phnom Penh received the most visitors during the period.

Some provinces had organised Water Festival celebrations, including Kampong Thom, Banteay Meanchey, and Kampot. Boat racing, fireworks displays, exhibitions and concerts had been held.

The ministry noted that these figures do not include the number of travelers during the Water Festival, which takes place from November 7-9.

It said the majority of travelers set off on their holidays on November 5, and would enjoy their time off until the end of this week.
