Petrovietnam’s corporate culture boosts prestige

The Vietnam Oil and Gas Group (Petrovietnam), the country’s largest oil producer and second-largest power producer, recently held its second conference on communications and corporate culture to evaluate three years of pioneering corporate culture development.

Spreading cultural values

In 2019, the group’s Party Committee adopted a resolution on rebuilding Petrovietnam’s corporate culture. In accordance with the decision, a steering committee was established under the leadership of the group’s Party Committee Secretary and Board Chair Hoang Quoc Vuong. Petrovietnam General Director Le Manh Hung was appointed as the steering committee’s deputy head.

The project included the publication of a cultural handbook, editing of the group’s trademark, and issuing a brand identity system to unify the use of brand images throughout the group.

The group's subsidiaries have built new corporate culture models, diversified ways of dissemination, unified common goals and vision, and coordinated to form a solidarity bloc. Activities featuring Petrovietnam culture have been posted on the website and fanpage of Petrovietnam. Programs expressing gratitude have been held regularly, plus movements to build a cultural lifestyle launched by trade unions at all levels.

Petrovietnam has been recognized as one of the 10 enterprises meeting Vietnam’s business culture standards, as stipulated by the prime minister and first defined in Vietnam in 2021.

Communications and rebuilding of Petrovietnam culture have been integrated into the group's trading and production plans and development strategy.

Important contributions

Board Chair Hoang Quoc Vuong affirmed communications and corporate culture have contributed to regaining public trust of the group and enhancing its image and prestige. Vuong underscored the need to address shortcomings and limitations while emulating the group’s achievements.

According to Vuong, building corporate culture should be the common goal of the enterprise’s sustainable development. This must be combined with creating a safe, effective and high-quality working environment. To that end, leaders must set an example for implementing corporate culture development plans.

Vuong asked executive party committees at all levels and leaders of subsidiary companies to attach special importance to organizational work, allocate considerable resources to personnel, funding, and facilities in order to ingrain corporate culture in the group. In addition to continuing Petrovietnam’s culture rebuilding, it is necessary for each subsidiary to strengthen its own culture in accordance with its field of operation.

Director General Le Manh Hung said Petrovietnam is on the right track, which has contributed to its development and enhanced employees’ interests and rights.

In order to create a corporate culture identity, both the group and its subsidiary companies need more consistency, perseverance, and persistence. The achievements so far are the initial steps for the next process, according to Hung. He believes implementation of the plan will increase the trust of the group’s leaders and employees and ensure more sustainable development.
