Vietnam’s Central Highlands province puts new milk plant into operation
The VPMilk Eco Farm dairy plant, which is projected to turn out 20 million liters of milk a year in the first phase, came on stream in Lam Dong Province, located in Vietnam’s Central Highlands region, on Thursday.
The facility covers an area of 3.5 hectares and uses raw milk collected from the largest dairy cow farming area in Lam Dong that includes Don Duong District and a part of Duc Trong District.
The close distance between the VPMilk Eco Farm dairy plant and local farms ensures shorter transportation time and higher milk quality, according to Yoon Seok Bae, director of the new plant.
Four other dairy factories are running 100 milk purchasing and preliminary processing stations in Don Duong District but still fail to consume all local farmers’ raw milk output, according to the district’s chairman Duong Duc Dai.
The dairy cow farming area in Don Duong and Duc Trong Districts is considered the largest of its kind in Vietnam, with more than 1,000 dairy farmers and a total herd of about 10,000 cows that produce 200 metric tons of milk a day.
