Creating value for the community by going green: Phuc Khang Corporation CEO

'Green building' is a means for Phuc Khang Corporation to make the right products in line with global trends, spreading the green living spirit to everyone and contributing to the national strategy for green growth.

In comments at the Vietnam Green Building Week 2022 held last week in Ho Chi Minh City, Phuc Khang Corporation CEO Luu Thi Thanh Mau was eager to discuss the company's bold moves with regards to sustainable development and a greener future for all.

With the participation of delegates from ministries, agencies, organisations, domestic and international experts and typical enterprises, discussions at Green Building Week 2022 took place on October 14

Participating in the session: "Ensuring health, improving air quality and comfort conditions in the building", Mau gave her thoughts on the topic: "Health and living comfort in the Diamond Lotus Riverside green building".

“Pioneering and promoting the creation of a better lifestyle for public health and sustainable human and ecological environment according to global green standards is key,” Mau said.

Taking the Diamond Lotus Riverside project as proof, Mau said that air quality, light comfort, natural ventilation, and visual comfort were residents' concerns right from the design and control and during the operation stage.

“Diamond Lotus Riverside project has contributed to the biodiversity of the city through the preservation of the tree system and new development, enriching the riverside ecosystem. Diamond Lotus Riverside not only connects people with nature in green balconies, the landscape between buildings and riverside parks, but also connects people with people to create a green and sustainable community,” Mau said.

Diamond Lotus Riverside is built according to the Gold level in two standards LEED (US) and LOTUS (Vietnam). This project is the first high-rise apartment building in Vietnam developed by Phuc Khang Mitsubishi Corporation Holding, a joint venture between Phuc Khang Group and the leading Japanese enterprise Mitsubishi.

The project has been awarded the LOTUS Provisional certificate and won the title of "Top 5 best smart green building projects in 2021."

By strictly following the principles of ensuring health and comfort, Diamond Lotus Riverside has recorded positive results, such as the electricity consumption index decreasing by 51 per cent, and the water usage index decreasing 42 per cent compared to the base level.

This project also achieved other positive figures such as 15.4 per cent total green roof area; a construction density of only 19 per cent; a 100 per cent living area with natural light and ventilation with a view outside; the entire area directly exposed to solar radiation; all apartments using the Low-E glass system; as well as two layers of glass to reduce noise, anti-glare and reduce heat transfer from outside to inside the house.

Mau also emphasised ecological diversity in the sustainable park inside the Diamond Lotus Riverside project.

According to Mau, this is a positive result of efforts to preserve all native trees and ecosystems while constructing a 300m-long sustainable park along the banks of the Kenh Doi River.

“Through this, we want to emphasise the necessity of building a living space with lots of trees and biodiversity for the physical and mental health of residents and the surrounding community. This is not only for one generation but for many future generations,” Mau said.

“In its sustainable development journey, Phuc Khang Corporation is consistently associated with creating values for the community and natural environment through certified green building products associated with traditional culture, bringing the community a healthy and comfortable living environment,’ Mau added.

A delegation of more than 60 guests of the Vietnam Green Week 2022 also visited the Diamond Lotus Riverside in District 8, Ho Chi Minh City, on October 13.

Also, in the Vietnam Green Week 2022, a ceremony to honour typical green buildings in 2022 took place. Three items of the project of Vietnam Lotus Urban Area Culture Trade and Tourism Village invested by Phuc Khang Corporation were awarded the LOTUS certificate of the Vietnam Green Building Council. In particular, the Bamboo Vietnam Convention Centre achieved a Gold level LOTUS certification.
