Car and motorcycle sales decrease
The sales of cars and motorcycles plunged in June due to a lack of parts and components.
Hyundai Vietnam reported selling 4,278 cars in June this year, representing a decrease of 34 per cent compared to the figures from May, according to a report by TC Group Vietnam JSC published on July 13.
In June, the company sold 1,086 Hyundai Accent units, signifying a decrease of 40.5 per cent on-month.
The Hyundai Creta and Hyundai Tucson models ranked second and third with 830 and 479 units respectively, showing a decline of 14.8 per cent and 26.2 per cent compared to the figures for May.
TC Group’s report shows that the shortage of components and parts has affected all Hyundai car models assembled in Vietnam. This stems from the shortage of semiconductors and chips around the globe.
As a result, Hyundai Thanh Cong Ninh Binh currently faces challenges when trying to meet customers’ demands.
Honda Motor Vietnam faces a similar situation.
In June, the company sold almost 147,700 cars and motorcycles, down 5 per cent on-month and 1.4 per cent on-year. In the automobile segment, the company sold 1,702 units, which accounted for a decrease of 46.5 per cent on-month.
Honda Motor Vietnam also explained that the reason for this situation is the lack of semiconductors around the globe.
