Aeon, Micromax partner again for third mall
AEON Mall (Cambodia) Co Ltd and a locally-owned Micromax Co Ltd have entered into a partnership agreement to develop fibre optic infrastructure for $200 million Aeon Mall 3, which is expected to be opened in 2023.
The agreement was signed on June 20 between Masayuki Tsuboya, managing director of Aeon Mall and Lim Neang Neath, general manager of Micromax.
Tsuboya said Aeon Mall Cambodia and Micromax have had a long history of productive collaboration on the fibre optic infrastructure service.
In 2017, Aeon Mall Sen Sok City chose Micromax as its fibre optic service partner, and has since consistently provided exceptional service to Aeon, evidenced by its well-organised and innovative teamwork, and support.
The alliance reflects the trust and commitment of the company to their highest level, Tsuboya said.
“Hence, in 2020, we decided to go for Micromax’s service for Aeon Mall Phnom Penh so that we obtain the greatest service for our customers. We fully trust their product and commitment,” he added.
On this basis, Aeon Mall Cambodia has nominated Micromax as the best company for the fibre optic infrastructure in Cambodia, he mentioned.
Meanwhile, Neang Neath of Micromax said the company has celebrated numerous achievements and established distinctive partnerships.
One of the most significant is being the network and technology infrastructure for two branches of Aeon Mall, Japan’s largest shopping mall developer.
Neang Neath said she was humbled to be part of the successful projects they worked on with Aeon Mall Cambodia, which has three branches in the country.
The third Aeon Mall in Phnom Penh, known as Aeon Mall Meanchey, is being built on 17ha along Hun Sen Boulevard.
“We are proud to have been the first choice and continue to be the chosen partner for Aeon Mall Cambodia, a leading shopping mall development company. We thank you for your trust and confidence,” she said.
The construction of the five-storey Aeon Mall 3 project, which started in October 2020, is scheduled to take 27 months to complete. Hyundai Engineering won the bid to build the 200 billion won ($164 million) complex.
Similarly, the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC) in December approved Aeon Mall’s $289.6 million 174,000sqm satellite ING City project.
Aeon Mall 1 had a capital investment of about $205 million while Aeon 2’s investment amounted to $120 million. The second mall opened in June 2018 in Sen Sok district.
