GDT launches ‘lucky draw app’

The General Department of Taxation (GDT) on May launched the ‘GDT Lucky Draw App’ to motivate and encourage the public to fulfill their tax duty, strengthen tax payment culture and promote fiscal consistency.

Minister Attached to the Prime Minister and GDT director-general Kong Vibol said that the app is an initiative to give the public the chance to contribute to tax collection and would also strengthen the GDT’s tax mobilisation strategy.

“The GDT Lucky Draw App is just one of dozens of mechanisms of tax measures we are using to strengthen sustainable, consistent tax collection. This program is like an arrow that can shoot many birds, as it strengthens tax collection and billing statements, both of which were highlighted for attention by the Ministry of Economy and Finance,” he said.

This app, he said is like a ruler that measures the consistency of fiscal transactions through the verification of genuine results against the turnover announced by enterprises. This will reduce unsavory business’s ability to commit tax evasion.

Cambodia Restaurant Association (CRA) chairman Arnaud Darc – who attended the launch – said that he supported this app as it is a measure put in place to strengthen tax payment culture and promotes consistency in tax payments.

Vibol urged people to send any bills received – from big or small companies – through the app. Bills from unregistered business can also be sent to this app, and users get the chance to win prizes through a lucky draw.
