La Vie ranks in the top 10 most sustainable foreign-invested companies in Vietnam

Thanks to its continuous efforts to steward water resources sustainably and reduce the impact of packaging on the environment, La Vie Natural Mineral Water Company, a member of Nestlé in Vietnam, has just been honoured as one of the top 10 outstanding foreign-invested enterprises (FIE) in terms of green growth and sustainable development in 2021-2022.

The ranking belongs to the Golden Dragon Awards 2022 organised by Vietnam Economic Times to recognise FIEs with outstanding achievements and positive contributions to the local community and the country’s economy.

Selected from more than 600 nominations and registrations for the awards, this year’s Golden Dragon Awards winners include the top 10 FIEs in green growth and the top 50 outstanding FIEs in Vietnam.

This year's top 10 were awarded to brands with strategies and action plans to proactively respond to COVID-19, ensure safe, equal, and human policies for employees, as well as support the green and digital transformation.

La Vie was the only enterprise in the beverage industry to have been named in the ranking.

The award ceremony was held by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Vietnam Economic Times in Ho Chi Minh City last week, in the framework of the 2022 Vietnam Connect Forum.

Sustainability is a key business priority

Creating Shared Value (CSV) has been a fundamental way that La Vie conducts its business, aiming at sustainable development by creating value for its shareholders, society, and the planet.

La Vie is committed to taking the journey towards a waste-free future, by supporting food-grade recycled plastic and reducing the use of virgin plastic in packaging, as a solution to help reduce plastic emissions.

Therefore, from the beginning of last year, La Vie has launched the first food-safe bottle made from recycled plastic. Currently, the company is expanding the initiative to support the circular economy in Vietnam, turning post-consumer packaging into a resource.

La Vie is committed to taking the journey towards a waste-free future, by supporting food-grade recycled plastic and reducing the use of virgin plastic in packaging, as a solution to help reduce plastic emissions.

In 2018, La Vie was the first enterprise in the drinking water industry in Vietnam to stop using bottle cap seals as they were unnecessary plastic parts that could not be collected and recycled. Almost all of La Vie's products are now fully recyclable.

Along with focusing on sustainable packaging, La Vie is also one of the founding members of the Vietnam Packaging Recycling Organization (PRO Vietnam) and joined hands with leading enterprises in the consumer goods, retail, and packaging industries to help promote a circular economic model through more accessible and sustainable packaging collection and recycling processes.

Fausto Tazzi, general manager of La Vie said, “As the leading mineral water company in Vietnam, our priority is to protect the precious natural mineral resources and develop initiatives to help provide people with high-quality water in an environmentally sustainable way. Being a Natural Mineral Water brand brings the responsibility of being sustainable by nature. That’s why we are always extremely dedicated to water, plastic, and carbon sustainability.”

Tazzi added, “At La Vie and Nestlé, we’re embarking on a journey that has the ambition to take us even beyond sustainability, towards regeneration. We aim at creating positive impacts on the environment and the society to help protect ecosystems and renew and restore the environment for this generation and future ones.”

As of today, La Vie is the only company in Vietnam to have achieved the Alliance for Water Stewardship (AWS) certification, demonstrating its commitment to sustainable water management and creating shared value in the communities in which it operates.

AWS standard is a globally applicable framework for major water users to understand their water use and impacts, and to work collaboratively and transparently for sustainable water management within a catchment context. The standard is intended to drive social, environmental and economic benefits at the scale of a catchment.

La Vie, a member of Nestlé in Vietnam, is the first foreign-invested joint venture in the bottled water category in the country and has been among the leading companies in the industry over the past 30 years.
