IDG Capital to lead NFT-empowered real estate trend in Vietnam

IDG Capital Vietnam – the leading venture capital firm with a strong focus on high-quality tech startups – confirmed its investment in METAIN, the first co-investment platform based on blockchain and non-fungible tokens (NFT) in Vietnam. The partnership is expected to foster the development of NFT real estate and attract more global investors.

Real estate investment promises very high returns with the least risks; however, its characteristics create high entry barriers for individual investors, including large capital and an inconvenient, time-intensive transaction process.

METAIN is a blockchain-empowered co-investment platform focusing on real estate, whose vision is to provide high-yield, transparent, and secure investment opportunities to middle-income customers. The platform aims to grow the Vietnam real estate investment market and improve its accessibility by using blockchain technologies to complement, but not replace, existing reliable approaches.

To guarantee its commitment to protecting individual investors, METAIN is following regulations of the Real Estate Investment Trust and partners with reputable firms for bank trustee services. Those globally recognised partners would be announced shortly within the next month.

IDG Capital also shows its ambition to lead the NFT Real estate trend and revealed its plan to proactively engage with global investors to attract investment to Vietnam.

Duc Tran, general partner at IDG Capital Vietnam said, “METAIN is the first blockchain startup that IDG Capital Vietnam invests in. Unlike similar projects, METAIN has a very smart approach in their choice of investment targets. METAIN focuses on central business district properties whose evaluations are the most stable with an all-time uptrend.”

IDG Capital is a leading investment firm, focused on developing extraordinary companies through expertise in private equity and venture capital, as well as real estate. Founded in 1992, today IDG works with private equity and venture capital fund managers, investment advisors, and business entities from around the world.

IDG Capital brings a powerful combination of global perspective and local experience to investment management. As long-term value investors, IDG Capital's team is highly skilled at mobilising global resources to address local needs, especially for Inbound and outbound opportunities in Asia.

Nhan Tran, CEO at METAIN said, “With high security, instantaneous settlements, and transparent and seamless transactions, smart contracts and NFT are transforming the real estate industry and will become key trends in the next decades. The next challenge would be to equip proptech investors with a reliable setup and grow these via the right assets. We believe that we are on the right track with that."

To help portfolio companies achieve sustainable growth, IDG Capital accesses a wide range of resources, including services in branding, marketing, channel development, overseas expansion, human resources, and finance and management.

IDG Capital is the first technology venture capital fund in Vietnam and currently manages $100 million. The company plays an important role in growing innovative and market-leading companies such as VNG, VCCorp, Coinbase, Ripple, and Kucoin, among others.
