Hanoi holds dialogue with business community

Representatives from the Hanoi People’s Committee, departments, and agencies, as well as businesses, gathered at the first Café Business programme on March 10 to help solve companies' current difficulties.

The event held by the Hanoi Centre for Investment, Trade, and Tourism Promotion (HPA) provided an opportunity for businesses to have an open dialogue with local authorities, thus working out possible solutions that contribute to improving the business climate and local competitiveness.

HPA director Nguyen Anh Duong said Hanoi authorities have been carrying out several bold measures to effectively control the pandemic and facilitate business activities.

During the meeting, the discussions focused on taxes, social insurance, capital, IT, and digital transformation.

A business representative raised his issues at the event

HPA plans to carry out surveys to understand challenges among businesses, as well as their proposals, and then work with local authorities to solve them.

In 2021, Hanoi saw economic growth of 2.92 per cent. During the year, the city granted business registration certificates for about new 25,000 businesses.

Currently, Hanoi is home to 300,000 businesses, over 1,400 cooperatives, and about 177,000 household businesses. It is estimated that they contribute over 66 per cent of the city’s GDP and 97 per cent to the city’s total export-import turnover.
