Logistics e-learning to gain leg-up

The Cambodia Logistics Association (CLA) and OneSala Co Ltd have teamed up to develop a modern, tailor-made e-learning platform in the fields of transport and logistics.

A memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed to this end on October 27 at a ceremony presided over by Techo Sen Institute of Public Works and Transport director Hoeun Samneang.

Samneang offered his congratulations to the CLA and Onesala on their new quest to develop a technology-infused curriculum, and expressed appreciation for their support of human resource training in the disciplines of logistics and transportation.

CLA president Sin Chanthy emphasised that the MoU formalises the willingness of both institutions to provide more logistics-based human resource training, which he said is sorely needed in the Cambodian market. “Our association is now gradually moving forward.”

“In addition to direct training programmes for trainees, soon the association will have a programme through an e-learning platform on the subjects of logistics and transportation,” he said.

“The association will work with Onesala Co Ltd, a company that has specialised in this field for many years,” Chanthy added.

Samneang went on to say that the Ministry of Public Works and Transport has strived tirelessly to build and revamp road infrastructure, which he termed the lifeblood of transportation in the Kingdom and an essential component of economic activity.

And these pursuits are empowered by the sound stewardship and guided by the long-term vision of Minister of Public Works and Transport Sun Chanthol, he asserted.

In early March for example, the ministry signed a Framework of Agreement with Singapore-based YCH to develop the Phnom Penh Logistics Complex (PPLC), in a move to improve Cambodia’s logistics system and facilitate its integration into regional and global supply chains.

The PPLC is planned on 98ha in Dangkor district’s Samrong Krom commune, an area just west of Phnom Penh International Airport.

The FA signing came a little over a year after the government in early January 2020 green-lit the draft of the Interim Master Plan on Intermodal Transport and Logistics Connectivity (IMP-ITLC), which is to serve as a roadmap for the development of the country’s logistics sector and purports to cut the costs of associated services.

The interim master plan had been in the works by the ministry in collaboration with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (Jica) since September 2018.
