Int'l forum on Viet Nam's agricultural digital transformation to be held this month

A virtual forum "Viet Nam agricultural digital transformation 2021" will be held on September 16 by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) in cooperation with the Viet Nam Digital Agriculture Association (VIDA) and VnExpress online newspaper.

At the online press conference held on Friday to announce this forum, Tran Thanh Huan, director of MoFA's Department of Foreign Affairs, said the forum with virtual reality technology is expected to attract about 1,000 participants for two sessions.

They include the opening session with the title "Keeping up with market trends and promoting the supportive role for the economy in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic and post-pandemic" and a symposium on "Shaping Viet Nam's digital agriculture until 2035".

The delegates come from ministries, sectors, enterprises, large corporations, associations, international organisations and domestic and foreign experts, the organisers said.

They will discuss the difficulties and advantages of digital transformation in Viet Nam and opportunities for Vietnamese agriculture, thereby providing solutions and resources for the development of Viet Nam's digital agriculture.

The forum will hold dialogues on policies between the Government and the private sector to implement the Prime Minister's direction on digital transformation in the agricultural sector.

It also offers solutions to promote agricultural digital transformation to meet market needs and shape Viet Nam's agricultural digital transformation until 2035 as well as action programmes.

Local and international experts and businesses will also share experiences and propose solutions to achieve the goal of digital transformation for Viet Nam's agriculture sector.

Especially, the forum will create opportunities for enterprises to access modern technology to increase the market share of Vietnamese agricultural products in the world.

Besides the forum, the Viet Nam International Agricultural Exhibition 2021 (AgriTech Expo 2021) is also being held in virtual reality. This is also one of the key activities with the registration of many local and foreign enterprises to open up cooperation opportunities.

Huan said that Viet Nam attracts foreign investment in many fields, especially investment in high-tech production and processing for agricultural products, which is an important part of agricultural digital transformation.

In addition, Viet Nam has also established strategic partnerships in agriculture with a number of countries to promote the transformation and application of high technology.

At the upcoming forum, there will be leading experts from countries such as Japan and Israel to share about technologies in management and production. The experiences of other countries are expected to support Vietnamese enterprises in agricultural digital transformation, Huan said.

Than Van Hung, vice chairman of the Viet Nam Digital Agriculture Association (VIDA), said that agricultural enterprises are promoting the application of technology and software in production, processing and trading of agricultural products. There are many applications supporting businesses in traceability and digitalisation in production and business.
