Remarkable advances

Nguyen Huu Duc, deputy chairman of the Ninh Phuoc People’s Committee, said the people’s committee has coordinated with the local department of planning and investment and other departments to compile investment portfolios, engaging the interest of investors in a number of solar and wind power projects. Some 11 projects have been completed with a total investment capital of VND11.33 trillion for capacity of 443.2MW, while seven projects are under implementation and nine projects are under planning. These projects have contributed to changing the local economic structure, reducing the poverty rate, and increasing people’s incomes and the district budget revenue. The district has also drawn investment for the Tien Tien Organic Agriculture Farm and 61 shrimp seed farming businesses in An Hai Commune.

Ninh Phuoc has become the first district in the province to be recognized as a new-style rural area in accordance with the national program for building new-style rural areas launched a decade ago. The material and spiritual lives of people have been enhanced, while most houses have been repaired or rebuilt. The application of science and technology in agricultural production has been gradually implemented, engaging investor interest in numerous organic agriculture and aquaculture projects.

By 2020, total production value of the local agro-forestry-fishery sector had reached more than VND2.759 trillion, a 4.48-fold increase compared to 2011. Per capita income reached VND45.9 million per year, while the poverty rate stood at 3.04 percent. The district had eight recognized typical products, including grapes, jujube, asparagus, shrimp seed, sheep, goat, My Nghiep brocade products, and Bau Truc pottery products.

The coastal district was also awarded the Third-class Labor Medal by the state president in 2020. In the coming time, Ninh Phuoc will continue to improve the quality of criteria used to assess districts in developing new-style rural areas.

Promoting economic restructuring

Nguyen Huu Duc said the district will make greater efforts to implement the government’s dual task of fighting the Covid-19 pandemic and promoting socioeconomic development this year.

Accordingly, the district is eyeing strong promotion of economic restructuring associated with growth model innovation, further development of high-tech agriculture and renewable energy, effective management and use of resources, protection of natural resources and the environment, and effective response to climate change. In addition, the district will implement the roadmap to expand Phuoc Dan Town to meet grade-IV urban criteria.

Ninh Phuoc District aims to further improve its business and investment environment, enhance the quality of human resources, promote administrative reforms, increase the effectiveness and efficiency of law enforcement, ensure political security and social security, and better the material and spiritual lives of people.

Ninh Phuoc District completed and exceeded 10 of 11 set targets in 2020. The district budget revenue reached VND80 billion, exceeding by 6.7 percent of the provincial target and 3.6 percent of the district estimate.
