Connecting supply and demand to boost unique local products

The Department of Industry and Trade of Ninh Thuan Province recently organized trade fairs and exhibitions in order to familiarize consumers with its unique products, connect goods supply and demand and gain a foothold in the provincial and national markets.

Diverse supply-demand solutions

The director of the Ninh Thuan Department of Industry and Trade Vo Dinh Vinh said that in recent years, the department has formulated support policies to develop local products, which include linking production and consumption, establishing points of sale, and developing tours to visit production and processing stages. The province has also implemented industry and trade promotion programs to support production, processing and advertising of specific products.

Last year, the province organized the Ninh Thuan Spring Fair 2020 with participation of over 70 businesses from the province and beyond. It also held three conferences on connecting supply and demand in Lam Dong, Quang Binh and Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC). At a 2020 conference on connecting supply and demand of goods between HCMC and other provinces and cities, Ninh Thuan’s businesses signed five cooperation deals with modern distribution channels in HCMC.

In 2020, the Ninh Thuan Department of Industry and Trade also organized six markets selling Vietnamese goods in local districts, especially a fair of agricultural products that was held for the first time at the Vincom Trade Center in Phan Rang-Thap Cham City to support the province’s businesses and production establishments, especially those involved in the One Commune One Product (OCOP) program. The activities were designed to ease difficulties caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, contributing to stimulating demand in the province. The Ninh Thuan Department of Industry and Trade plans three e-commerce development projects in 2021.

Sustainable consumption system

Solutions for trade promotion and supply-demand connection have contributed to growing demand for local advantageous products, bringing them to most of the country’s supermarket systems, including BigC, Co.opMart and Vinmart, wholesale markets in provinces and cities, and convenience stores in big cities. This is a reputable distribution channel which has built consumer trust.

In addition, to meet tourist demand for local OCOP products as souvenirs, the department of industry and trade has coordinated to build six display points introducing and selling OCOP products at Vinh Hy Tourist Area, night market area, the Po Klong Garai Tower; Thien Thao stop, Hang Rai Tourist Site, and at the Department of Science and Technology. Trade promotion programs for OCOP products have become an important bridge in promoting cooperation among enterprises, distributors and consumers. They also provide an opportunity for businesses to promote their products, learn about customer tastes, improve competitiveness, and come up with development strategies in line with market trends.

To keep promoting the effectiveness of supply-demand connections, the Ninh Thuan Department of Industry and Trade will focus on advancing its distinctive products in the national market, deploy cooperation programs with provinces and cities in the region to support businesses in promoting their brands, establish distribution channels and find customers associated with the “Buy Vietnamese Goods” campaign. The Department will also help businesses strengthen application of modern, advanced equipment and technologies to meet market demand, thereby enhancing a sustainable connection between supply and demand.
