Vietnam-Singapore Smart Energy Solutions opens headquarters

Vietnam - Singapore Smart Energy Solutions JSC (VSSES), a joint venture between Becamex IDC Corporation (Becamex IDC), Singapore’s Sembcorp Industries (Sembcorp), and Vietnam Singapore Industrial Park J.V. Co (VSIP JV), held on October 30 a grand opening at its new headquarters in the southern province of Binh Duong. This marks a milestone in the company’s commitment towards delivering a new generation of sustainable smart energy solutions in Vietnam.

Incorporated in June 2020, VSSES combines the sustainable energy and urban solutions and operational expertise offered by Sembcorp, with the strong local experience and partnerships forged by VSIP and Becamex.

VSSES aims to deliver economic and environmental benefits to customers and stakeholders through the provision of best-in-class rooftop solar solutions to VSIP’s various integrated townships and industrial parks, as well as Becamex-owned industrial parks and facilities across Vietnam. Together, this network represents over 1,000 potential business customers eligible for converting to renewable energy through VSSES’ solutions.

VSSES has built a team of local and regional experts to service customers in Vietnam centrally via its headquarters. The office will also be a centre for training employees on renewable energy operations, including digital applications.

Recently, VSSES commenced the construction and installation of approximately 8 megawatt-peak (MWp) of rooftop solar projects in Binh Duong  Province, targeted for completion by end of the year. It also completed a 51 kilowatt-peak (kWp) rooftop solar installation atop the VSIP administrative building in Binh Duong in September 2019. The renewable energy to be generated would help lower the carbon footprint for VSSES customers located within the industrial parks.

VSSES’ smart rooftop solar solutions are designed to integrate seamlessly with customers’ business operations. VSSES will build, own, operate and maintain the grid-tied rooftop solar solutions on behalf of customers, so that customers can focus on their core business while enjoyingsavings on their electricity bills and contributing to a greener, more sustainable environment.

Andrew Toh, general director of VSSES, said: “We are excited to support Vietnam’s transition to a low-carbon energy future. With a permanent presence in Vietnam, we aim to hire and build a local workforce ready for renewable energy deployment. We look forward to providing affordable, customised sustainable solutions for local businesses and communities.”
