National Data Gateway launched to make base for e-government
The National Data Gateway will contribute to building up a general image forthe database of the local government.

The Ministry of Information and Communications (MoIT) on August 31 officially organised the launchingworkshop of the National Data Gateway after several years of testing.
At the event, Do Cong Anh, deputy head of the Authority of Information Technology Application, said that to materialiseDecree No.47/2020/ND-CP dated April 9 on managing, linking, sharing digital data among local authorities and the prime minister, the MoIT collaborated with other relevant ministries to develop the National Data Gateway.
The platform is a focal point to access information and data on the internet, aiming to serve publishing opendata and also supplement documents, services, and tools for data exploitation.
In a short time, the ministry will build up and launch some parts of the system,includingupdating information regarding the local government’s data and classifying the opendata. Moreover, the National Data Gateway also partners up with other platforms such as Vmap specialised in digital mapping, and Vpostcode, among others to upgrade utilities for consumers.
“This is a solid base to develop the platform. The ministry will continue to research and expand each category of the project, contributing to the evolution of local e-government,” said Anh.
The Authority of Information Technology Application also cited a report of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) related to the rank of e-governments and the indexes of Open Geographic Datastore Interface (OGDI). Accordingly, Vietnam is at the 97th place on the OGDI, the sixth in Southeast Asia, classifying in the middle quintile.
The event also saw the attendance of representatives of Vietnam Social Insurance, Vietnam National University, Hanoi; as well as the Ministry of Planning and Investment and the Ministry of Science and Technology, among others.
