Safe farm produce fair in Can Tho showcases regional specialities

The 2020 safe agricultural product fair that opened at Big C Can Tho on July 24 seeks to help businesses and co-operatives showcase safe products and promote demand for them and enhance linkages with the GO!/Big C supermarket chain.

 

To run until July 26, it has 30 booths exhibiting local specialities and typical products such as Ngoc Linh ginseng, caterpillar fungus, herbal tea, coffee, macadamia, sacha inchi, dried vegetables and fruits, ​​fish paste, dried fish, salted fish, cashew, soy bean, shrimp-based products, rice, and others.

The event will also feature a seminar on establishing food safety chains, activities to link up co-operatives with prospective buyers, a ceremony to give away consumer awards for products, a programme to connect businesses/co-operatives with the GO/Big C supermarket chain, a training programme for bringing goods into the supermarket chain, and amusement programmes.

Dao Van Ho, director of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development’s Centre for Agricultural Trade Promotion, said: "The fair is the fourth in a series of similar fairs held to promote safe agricultural products and enhance links to boost consumption of the products, thereby supporting the formation and development of sustainable agricultural value chains.”

Another safe agricultural product fair is scheduled to be held in Big C Nha Trang from August 21 to 23.

The fair was organised by the Centre for Agricultural Trade Promotion, the Department of Cooperative Economics and Rural Development and Central Retail Group.
