The presentation ceremony of the investment registration certificate to Universal Scientific Industrial Vietnam Co., Ltd. was held in Haiphong city with the attendance of the leaders of Haiphong Economic Zone Authority.

Haiphong grants licence for USI electronics manufacturing facility
USI will expand its electronics manufacturing facility in Haiphong

Universal Scientific Industrial Vietnam Co., Ltd. is a wholly-owned sub-subsidiary of Universal Scientific Industrial (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. (USI), a global electronics designer and manufacturer listed on the Shanghai Stock Exchange (SSE: 601231) since 2012.

USI decided to land its expansion project in the northern port city of Haiphong, Vietnam to take advantage of its strategic geographical location, competitive labour costs, and economic zone tax incentives to reduce its overall production costs, and as a result, enhance profitability and competitiveness. This latest move matches USI’s strategic development plan to strengthen its global presence and quickly respond to overseas clients’ demand.

USI’s new facility will be built on a 6.5-hectare area in DEEP C Industrial Zones, Dinh Vu-Cat Hai Economic Zone, Haiphong with the total investment of $200 million in the first phase. In the mass production stage, USI will supply wearable electronic device boards to overseas markets, creating thousands of local jobs, leveraging technology, and driving digital transformation in Haiphong. USI’s investment in DEEP C is expected to drive more high-tech projects, thus laying down the foundations for the birth of a new electronic manufacturing cluster in Haiphong.

USI selected DEEP C Industrial Zones for this important project due to DEEP C’s practical experience in assisting business setup, plentiful land available for future expansion, as well as great connectivity to a network of deep sea ports, highways, and international airports.

USI is one of the most environment-friendly and sustainable electronics brands in the world, which aligns perfectly with DEEP C’s vision to become the first eco-industrial park in Vietnam.

USI provides design, miniaturisation, material sourcing, manufacturing, logistics, and after-sales services of electronic devices/modules for brand owners. USI is a member of ASE Technology Holding (TWSE: 3711, NYSE: ASX) and has many years of experience in the electronics manufacturing services industry and leverages the industry-leading technology of ASE Group, which enables USI to offer customers diversified products in the sectors of wireless communication, computer and storage, consumer, industrial, and automotive electronics worldwide. USI has a sales service network in the Americas, Europe, and Asia; and manufacturing sites in Mainland China, Taiwan, Mexico, and Poland. To learn more, visit www.usiglobal.com.

Meanwhile, DEEP C Industrial Zones is a Belgian developer and operator of industrial zone and port infrastructure clusters in Haiphong city and Quang Ninh province – the most dynamically growing region in North Vietnam.

DEEP C has become one of the largest industrial property developers in Vietnam with five industrial zones, forming the DEEP C industrial zone cluster covering 3,400 hectares at the epicentre of the region’s manufacturing and infrastructure boom. DEEP C provides a large portfolio of products and services including industrial land and workshop/warehouse for lease, port development, and operation, utilities supply and distribution, and renewable energy generation, among others.

DEEP C’s goal is to grow into Vietnam’s first eco-industrial park driven by digital technologies and innovative mindset where its clients are provided with all the tools they need for success.
