CDC approves 10 more investment projects in April
The CDC has approved 36 projects this month, worth a cumulative $624.58 million and expected to generate 24,468 jobs. All 10 were certified from April 20-24.
The news brings the tally of projects approved by the CDC this month to 36, worth a cumulative $624.58 million and expected to generate 24,468 jobs, its data shows.
Mountain Moon Millwork Co Ltd’s $1 million door and window frame factory is located in the Sihanoukville Special Economic Zone (SSEZ) and is expected to create 420 jobs.
Lodi Pet Products Co Ltd’s $2.6 million pet product and food factory is located in Preah Sihanouk province’s Cambodian Zhejiang Guoji SEZ industrial park along National Road 4 in in Prey Nop district’s Choeung Kor commune and is expected to generate 105 jobs.
Newprokin Ltd’s $9.4 million bags factory is located in Taing Krouch commune, in Kampong Speu province’s Samrong Tong district and is expected to generate 2,877 jobs.
YS Packing Products Co Ltd’s $880,000 packaging factory is located in the Giga Resources (Svay Rieng) Special Economic Zone in Svay Teap district’s Kandieng Reay commune and is expected to generate 90 jobs.
AIDC Trading Co Ltd’s $6 million grain and fruit processing plant is located in the SSEZ and expected to create 110 jobs.
KNPG Investment Co Ltd’s $6 million white sand processing factory is located in the Kiri Sakor Koh Kong SEZ in Kiri Sakor district’s Prek Sandor commune in Koh Kong province and is expected to result in 170 jobs.
The Joyance International Apparel Co Ltd’s $2.8 million garment factory is located in Roka Koh commune, in Kampong Speu province’s Kong Pisei district, and is expected to generate 1,048 jobs.
MMAS Co Ltd’s $5.5 million bakery box factory is located in the SSEZ and is expected to create 167 jobs.
Long Purse Industrial Co Ltd’s $5.1 million fibre optic cable production plant is located at the Giga Resources (Svay Rieng) Special Economic Zone and is expected to generate 275 jobs.
Xiangsong Printing Co Ltd’s $1 million equipment package factory is located in the Hi-Park Special Economic Zone in Svay Teap district’s Chrak M’tes commune in Prey Veng province and is expected to create 340 jobs.
Cambodia Chamber of Commerce vice-president Lim Heng told The Post that the Kingdom will remain a destination for investment due to the US’ Generalised System of Preferences programme.
“I believe that a free trade agreement between Cambodia and China is also the key to attracting foreign investors. Our government is planning to finish negotiations this year,” he said.
As much of the world grapples with the Covid-19 pandemic with global trade and economies paralysed, 77 new factories have launched operations in the Kingdom, while only six have shut down.
And in the first quarter of this year, the total number of factories registering with the Ministry of Industry, Science, Technology and Innovation has reached 1,801, secretary of state Heng Sokkong said on Thursday.
