Int’l food, beverage expo takes place in Ha Noi

Up to 200 domestic and foreign exhibitors are displaying their food products and advanced machinery at the Vietfood and Beverage - ProPack 2019 international exhibition, which is being held in Ha Noi until Saturday.

The event, which opened on Wednesday, is organised by the Trade Promotion Agency under the Ministry of Industry and Trade and Vietnam National Trade Fair & Advertising Company (VINEXAD).

With a total exhibition area of 4,500 sq.m, the expo gathers 250 booths of businesses from countries and territories such as Taiwan, Denmark, Korea, Thailand, China, Australia and Viet Nam, said Trinh Xuan Tuan, VINEXAD deputy general director.

This is also the first expo of its kind to be attended by firms from Greece, according to Tuan.

Various products are being offered to visitors such as fruits and vegetables, aquatic products, farm produce, alcoholic drinks, juices, tea, food packaging and storage equipment, and hotel and restaurant equipment, among others.

The South Korean pavilion attracts a large number of visitors, showcasing ginseng, lingzhi mushroom, peach juice, rice cakes, dried persimmons and red ginseng.

The Taiwan pavilion exhibits sweet products such as candy, biscuits, cakes, snacks, jellies and jams, besides modern machinery and equipment.

Business matching events and a VIP buyer programme to help exhibitors meet potential buyers are also being held, Tuan said.

Many Vietnamese food and beverage producers are at the event, namely Golden Farm, DH Food, Khanh Hoa Salanganes Nests, Yilin Viet Nam, Chinh Son tea and Minh Tien Coffee, in addition to other well-known brands in the packaging industry, such as Alpha Engineering, Hung Duong Company and Technomarking.

“This is the third time we have participated in the exhibition. This is a prestigious event in the food industry of Viet Nam. Not only do we meet the new customers, we also connect with other partners from abroad,” Hoang Anh, Marketing Manager of Hoang Anh Flavoring and Food Ingredients Co Ltd told Viet Nam News.

Vu Thi Lan Huong, business director of V&V Co Ltd, said the expo offered an opportunity for businesses to gain easier access to major retailers like Co.opmart, Big C and Aeon Mall.
