TH Group boosts milk exports to China

TH Group, a big Vietnamese fresh milk producer known for its TH true MILK brand, has become the first Vietnamese enterprise to be allowed by China to export fresh milk products to the market.

Under a protocol signed in April 2019 between Vietnam’s Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and China’s General Administration of Customs on veterinary and health requirements for dairy products to be exported from Vietnam to China, TH Group has met all strict requirements and conditions set by China, a market with a population of 1.4 billion people.

TH Group is the first Vietnamese firm to sell fresh milk products in China

Since 2015, TH Group has been participating in Vietnam-China trade promotion forums, fairs, and exhibitions, and exported yoghurt products to China. In 2017, the group established a company in Guangzhou city to distribute the products.

In April 2019, TH inked an MoU on strategic partnership on market development and the consumption of foodstuff, farm produce, and fresh milk products with China’s Wuxi Jinqiao International Food City Co., Ltd. Both companies will expand the presence of TH true MILK products in China.

Currently, TH Group’s sterilised yoghurt products are sold in China’s Datonghua, Jimailong, and Laopodaren supermarket chains. The group has also completed negotiations with other famous supermarket chains including Walmart, Shanmu, and Bubugaojia in China.

Since 2009, TH Group has been operating a $1.2 billion hi-tech concentrated dairy and fresh milk production project in Nghia Dan district in the central province of Nghe An.

Recognised by India-based Asia Book of Records as the biggest hi-tech cow raising facility in Asia, the 45,000 dairy cow farm has been effectively applying high technologies in all of its production stages.

For example, the cow management technology is from Israel’s Afimilk, while the animal health management technology is imported from New Zealand’s Totally Vets, and the cow feed processing and managing technology is produced by Israel’s Ration All and One 1.

Besides, the water filtering technology is from Israel’s Amiad, while the wastewater treatment technology is imported from the Netherlands’ Aqua. The compost processing technology is produced by Japan’s SunEarth, and the financial management technology is from Germany.

Thanks to the modern governance and machinery systems, the labour capacity at TH currently stands at a very high level. Specifically, one or two workers can take care of thousands of cows. This is 10-20 times fewer than manual labour.

Currently, the group is also constructing the first phase of a major hi-tech concentrated dairy farm in the south-central province of Phu Yen. The 82-hectare phase has a total investment capital of VND1.151 trillion ($50 million), with 5,000 dairy cows.

In the second phase, from 2019-2022, the number of cows will increase to 20,000, with total investment capital mounting to VND4.57 trillion ($198.7 million). All animals are imported from the US.

Also, at present, while constructing a $2.7 billion hi-tech concentrated dairy and fresh milk production project in Russia, TH Group is constructing a similar project in the Republic of Bashkortostan, a federal subject of Russia.
