Printing, packaging exhibition opens in HCM City

A wide range of products, technologies and solutions used in the printing and packaging industry is on display at the Vietnam International Printing and Packaging Industry Exhibition that opened in HCM City on Wednesday.

VietnamPrintPack has attracted over 375 exhibitors from 18 countries and territories, including Bangladesh, Canada, mainland China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, the US, the UK, and Viet Nam.

On display in over 600 booths are machinery for laminating, folder gluing, book binding, offset printing, embossing, and others.

According to the organisers, with the constant growth of the corrugated packaging industry, more and more high-profile companies have chosen to use the annual expo as their platform for pursuing business expansion, leading to the number of exhibitors from the corrugated packaging sector doubling this year.

Among them are Ching Long, Haw Liih, Shaw Peng, Wenzhou Franlong, CMIC, West River, and Homeease.

The exhibition will also feature seminars, including on "Training and improving human resources quality in the printing industry in Viet Nam", and "Key factors for improving the quality of printing products" organised by the HCM City Printing Association.

The exhibition is expected to provide an ideal platform for local and foreign companies in the two industries to exchange information and explore business opportunities.

According to experts, Viet Nam’s packaging industry is expected to continue growing rapidly.

Demand for food packaging would continue to increase, driven by growing demand for food and beverages both at home and in export markets, they said.

An executive from PTS Industry Co., Ltd, which distributes corrugated box making machines from Switzerland, Germany and other countries, said its sales had increased by 10-15 per cent annually for the last five years.

Its machines cost US$50,000 to $2 million.

Viet Nam’s packaging market is the second fastest growing in Southeast Asia behind only Indonesia.

Organised by the Viet Nam National Trade Fair and Advertising Company (Vinexad) and Yorkers Trade and Marketing Service Co., Ltd., the exhibition, on at the Saigon Exhibition and Convention Centre in District 7, will run until Saturday.
