HCMC’s budget collections hit VND287 trillion in Jan-Sep

For the past few years, HCMC’s budget collection has been on the rise, totaling an estimated VND287 trillion in the current year to September, heard attendees at the 32nd session organized by the Executive Board of the HCMC Party Committee for the 2015-2020 tenure today, October 2.

Speaking of the city’s socioeconomic performance in January-September at the session, HCMC Vice Chairman Tran Vinh Tuyen said that the city had collected VND287.2 trillion for the State budget in the nine-month period, accounting for 72% of the full-year target.

HCMC’s gross regional domestic product amounted to over VND1 quadrillion, up 7.81% year-on-year, local media reports said.

Enterprises’ export revenue totaled an estimated VND31 billion, while the import bill reached VND37 billion.

The city will still face multiple challenges in its economic development, and economic growth over the first nine months was lower than in the same period last year, Vinh said.

Growth rates in some service areas, including commerce, tourism, real estate and education, during the nine-month period, were reportedly lower than last year, affecting the whole industry, he said. Besides this, the city’s disbursement rate remained low, at a mere 36%.

In the rest of the year, the city will focus on improving administrative procedures, especially on land and construction; continue to enhance investment promotion activities and boost the efficiency of investment attraction; and foster collection management, Vinh explained.

Addressing the two-day session, HCMC Party Committee Secretary Nguyen Thien Nhan pointed out that the city should make more efforts to collaborate with enterprises and residents to fulfill the target of budget collections of VND400 trillion this year and obtain more achievements in socioeconomic growth.
